Harris Stratex Networks Participates in First Public Mobile Backhaul Interoperability Showcase at MPLS and Ethernet World Congress 2008

February 4, 2008

Research Triangle Park, NC, February 4, 2008 - Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTX), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless transmission solutions—including wireless Carrier Ethernet—today announced its participation in the first public multi-vendor Mobile Backhaul Interoperability showcase. The event will be held at the upcoming MPLS and Ethernet World Congress in Paris, 5-8 February, 2008 at the Marriott Paris Rive Gauche.

The showcase is organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) and supported by both the IP/MPLS Forum and the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).The demonstrations will showcase how traffic from a Radio Access Network (RAN) can be carried over Metro Ethernet and an IP/MPLS Core, giving operators a migration path from current TDM backhaul to new Ethernet and IP/MPLS architectures that are flexible, scalable and economical. Real mobile services based on GSM and WCDMA will be demonstrated, in a live network using both fixed and wireless transport technologies. Harris Stratex will be participating in this event using the Eclipse™ Carrier Ethernet over Wireless (CEoW™) platform to provide resilient, high-speed GigE connections in various network applications, including demonstrating interoperability in the MPLS, T-MPLS and PBB-TE metro areas of the network.

“We are very pleased to take part in the EANTC Mobile Backhaul Interoperability testing,” said Paul Kennard, chief technology officer, Harris Stratex Networks. “Harris Stratex has been able to lead the market in wireless transport systems for large-scale, multiservice Ethernet networks, including next-generation mobile and WiMAX networks. We have taken a leadership role in developing Mobile Backhaul interest within the MEF ensuring that our Eclipse Carrier Ethernet over wireless solutions are interoperable with other transport media and technologies. We believe we are well positioned to address this emerging market and make it a significant part of our future company growth.”

Harris Stratex Networks’ Eclipse solution supports the industry’s highest level of built-in intelligence for Carrier Ethernet over Wireless transport. Eclipse delivers the essential Layer 2 functions required to enable smooth migration from TDM today to reliable, high-quality next-generation Carrier Ethernet networks tomorrow. In September 2007 the Metro Ethernet Forum certified Eclipse to MEF standards 9 and 14 through its comprehensive program to provide service-level benchmarks for equipment and service provider performance in complex Ethernet-based networks.

White papers with detailed findings, and an overview of the IP/MPLS Mobile Backhaul solution, are available for download from http://www.eantc.com/mobile_backhaul, and from www.harrisstratex.com.
