New TRuepoint® 6400 Microwave Radio from Harris Stratex Supports Robust, High-Performance Transport of TDM and Ethernet/IP Data
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina, March 26, 2008 – Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTX), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless transmission solutions, today introduced its newest digital microwave radio, the TRuepoint® 6400, developed to provide medium- to high-capacity, multi-service TDM and Ethernet/IP wireless transport. A powerful, compact solution, the TRuepoint 6400 provides the highest transmission power and system gain performance in its class.
The new TRuepoint 6400 is designed for all-indoor configurations for backhaul and trunking of mobile, public safety, utility and local/state government networks. It supports software-scalable, mixed-mode transport of NxDS1, NxDS3, OC-3/SONET and Ethernet data. Radio frequency coverage includes 6 GHz, 7/8 GHz, 10 GHz and 11 GHz FCC and NTIA frequency bands, as well as the 5.8 GHz UNII unlicensed band.
“We have designed TRuepoint 6400 for operators who demand a highly modular radio with high power performance characteristics in a familiar all-indoor configuration,” said John Koenig, vice president, Product Line Management. “To give customers maximum peace of mind, we have engineered it for no single point of failure.
“The TRuepoint 6400 is an innovative digital microwave product that builds on our wireless transmission technology leadership,” Koenig continued. “Its multi-service features support a seamless infrastructure migration from TDM to all-IP networks. Its architecture serves both current and future requirements, enabling network operators to add capacity, with no interruptions to operations. We believe the TRuepoint 6400 provides the highest level of reliability and versatility in the industry today.”
Harris Stratex Networks will showcase the new TRuepoint 6400 in booth # 6249 at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas, April 1-3. The company is also participating in the multi-vendor Mobile Backhaul Interoperability Test demonstrations organized by The European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) in collaboration with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and the IP/MPLS Forum. This event will feature a wide range of mobile backhaul solutions working over a unified network and using various clock synchronization methods, Circuit Emulation for ATM, Ethernet and TDM, migration scenarios and MEF-defined services realized over MPLS, PBB-TE and T-MPLS.
Single, Compact Chassis Design
For optimal reliability and easy maintenance, the TRuepoint 6400 integrates separate transmitter and receiver modules, along with M13 and add/drop multiplexer options, in a single, compact chassis. Using a highly efficient design, the small footprint can accommodate up to four 1+0 terminals, two 1+1 MHSB, a 1+1 repeater, or a 2+0/3+0/4+0 terminal, for a total of 720 Mbps capacity per shelf. The modular architecture allows additional channels or radio paths to be easily added at any time. Three chassis can be installed in a single rack for a total of 12 systems, delivering an aggregate capacity of 2.16 Gbps.
The TRuepoint 6400 supports exceptional RF power performance, with both standard and high power transmitter options. With ultra-sensitive receiver threshold performance, the overall system gain delivered is the highest of any other multi-service radio of its type in the industry. Integrated space diversity options also reduce cost and hardware footprint, since the additional receiver does not require extra rack space.
The TRuepoint 6400 incorporates the highest degree of equipment redundancy of any product available, with support for both non-protected and hot standby (HSB) protection switching and options for space and frequency diversity path protection. For maximum protection and peace of mind, hardware redundancy includes all modules down to and including the line interface card, with no single points of failure. With both TDM and Ethernet interfaces, added capacity can be assigned using software provisioned bandwidth allocation. Additional interfaces can be easily accommodated and implemented in the field without disruption to operations.
The TRuepoint 6400 is designed for complete compatibility with Harris Stratex Networks element management solutions, such as Starview™ and ProVision, and the NetBoss® Service Assurance platform. A simple and convenient handheld terminal option is also available for local maintenance and setup.
