MILPITAS, Calif., July 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviat Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVNW), the leading expert in microwave networking solutions, today announced a new public safety project with Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This project is an upgrade of older technology transitioning the county from all TDM to Ethernet (IP) service. In addition to products, Aviat will also provide design and installation services for the project.
Lancaster County joins other counties and local municipalities across the United States that depend on IRU 600, the leading radio platform for mission critical networks. IRU 600 extra high power radio (EHP) technology enables the county to deliver exceptional reliability while reusing existing antennas and saving money associated with costly tower upgrades.
"As first responders demand high speed broadband communications, mission critical networks require upgrades," states Michael Pangia, President and CEO, Aviat Networks. "With the use of advanced technology such as the IRU 600, state and local governments can deliver seamless upgrades to support the next generation of public safety applications while lowering total cost of ownership."
The IRU 600 platform is currently being used in 25 state-wide public safety networks and in hundreds of county networks across states such as Florida, Colorado and California. Beyond public safety, this system is used by 50 percent of the leading U.S. utility companies, and in the world's largest LTE networks.
