Aviat Networks to Present at Next Generation Telecoms Africa Summit in Kenya

April 24, 2012

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviat Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVNW), a leading expert in microwave networking solutions, today announced that it will present at the Next Generation Telecoms Africa (NGT Africa) Summit, April 25, in Nairobi, Kenya. Ryan Bruton, Aviat Networks' sales engineering director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), will deliver a workshop entitled "Evolving Your Microwave Network," which is a product-agnostic presentation that will enable telecommunications providers to ask the right questions and make informed choices as to the right network evolution migration strategy for them.

"Microwave technologies are evolving quickly, but not as quickly as the confusion about how to actually use them," Bruton says. "Mbps per MHz per dollar, Packet Sync, Ethernet OAM, zero footprint vs. all-outdoor, higher modulation schemes, asymmetrical transmission, MPLS—and many more—are frequently used terms but their correct meaning and proper useful application may not be clear."

Specifically, Bruton will present the latest microwave strategies, such as the next generation of microwave transmission with integrated Ethernet/IP networking, and lead a discussion on their impact and practicality while examining real-world examples of network migration. He will review what operators need to prepare for the next wave of high-speed mobile data. This is consistent with the overarching theme of the NGT Africa Summit on network evolution considering operator perspectives, emerging infrastructures and their potential introduction into Africa, innovative partnerships and more.

Taking place at the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya, Aviat Networks' workshop is part of the three-day NGT Africa Summit—of which Aviat Networks is a Premium Silver Sponsor—bringing together many leading Africa-based mobile operators, industry consultants, IT publications and high-tech solutions providers including Airtel Africa, Etisalat Group, Orange Uganda, Safaricom, Telkom Kenya — Orange, Vodacom Congo, Vodafone Ghana, Zain Telecom Sudan, Gartner Inc., IT News Africa and Symantec—among many others.
